[Class 6 (ii)] A grass-box is provided with a panel 3 which normally rests on the bottom of the box but which can be raised about a pivot 5 and held in various positions. Fig. 2 shows a construction in which the side walls of the box are provided with slots 7 in which the cranked ends 9 of a rod 10 engage. The rod 10 passes through the rolled front edge of the panel 3. Notches 12, 13 are provided in the slots 7 to receive the ends 9 of the rod 10 and hold the panel 3 in various positions. The slots 7 may be curved as shown in Fig. 2 or they may be straight and parallel to the front edges of the box. Springs may be provided to return the panel 3 to its lowest position and also to urge the ends 9 of the rod 10 into the notches 12, 13. Knobs may be placed on the ends 9 of the rod 10 to facilitate manipulation. The panel 3 may be corrugated. The slots 7 may be by narrow bars fixed to the inner surfaces of the side walls of the box and functioning as slots. Fig. 5 shows a further modification in which the slots 7 and notches 12, 13 are replaced by notches 17 formed in the front edges of the box.</p> |
