The apparatus includes a body support surface (1), and at least one external panel (2) positioned freely on the support surface, to form a vacuum chamber. At least one suction opening (3) is connected to the vacuum chamber. The body support surface is airtightly connected to the external panel. The support surface is rigid and comprises a number of suction openings in it's surface. The external panel is flexible and film-like, e.g. a metal foil. Additional equipment can be mechanically, pneumatically or magnetically repositioned on the support surface. Measuring devices may be coupled to blood pressure, ECG and pulse measuring equipment.
