It is an object of this invention to eliminate the necessity of using pulleys which will bring about cost increase, trouble and reduction of service life, and give rise to the positional irregularity of the coil edge. Two sets of endless belts 1 are disposed one above the other, each set of endless belts being laterally arranged side by side. Pressure applying members 2 and 3 which hold each the endless belts 1 in a state that the endless belts freely circulate in an oval shape state, press the inner surfaces 1 a of the endless belts 1, and are passed through the inner part of the endless belts 1. Each pressure applying member 2 ( 3 ) includes at least a belt pressing part 21 ( 31 ) which has a linear shaped side surface for directly pressing the inner surfaces 1 a of the endless belts, and belt reversing parts 23 ( 33 ) being arcuate in cross section. A coefficient of friction of an outer surface 1 b of each the endless belt 1 is larger than that of the inner surface 1 a thereof to thereby generate a tension in the slit band sheet "a".
