A coupler (10) for use in joining two pipes (12, 14) in a butt joint. The coupler (10) includes a band clamp (18) and a split sealing sleeve (26) disposed inside the band clamp (18) for encircling the abutted ends of the pipes (12, 14). The split sealing sleeve (26) has a tongue-and-groove sealing joint (34a, 34b) at the confronting free ends (28, 32) of the sleeve (26). The sealing joint (34a, 34b) has spring members (46a, 48a) at the mating edges to provide a resilient interference fit of the tongue-and-groove. |
