A wireless communication apparatus with voice transmission means that includes means for transmitting data relating to the geographic location of the apparatus is disclosed. The communications apparatus is configured to transmit the location data automatically upon the close of a voice transmission from the apparatus. Also disclosed are a wireless network base station adapted to receive, during termination of a signal being received from a mobile station, data identifying the location of the mobile station, and a communications network incorporating the apparatus.
