The device has two support cradles (B1, B2) carried by a frame (1) and provided, on its side turned towards the load to be supported (E), with a device for supporting an air cushion. The supporting device is configured to have between it and a part of the external side of the load a space for supporting by a film of air under pressure. A loading frame, guiding pulleys, a winch and cables rotate the load around its axis (A).
