PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire which controls generation of the separation of a belt end, and achieves compatibility between the improvement in the durability of a belt and weight reduction of the tire. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial tire is provided with the belt comprising at least two layers of belts. A first belt layer 5a in the first layer and a second belt layer 5b in the second layer are buried in the coating rubber 8 by monofilament cords 6 being arranged in parallel in the belt-width direction. Then the gage H<SB>E</SB>of a rubber layer 7 between the monofilament cords of the first belt layer and the second belt layer at the end part of the second belt layer is 1. 3 to 3.0 times larger than the gage H<SB>C</SB>at the midsection of the tire.
