<p>A sealing system in which, even if the system is subjected to pressure variation, a buffer ring has stable behavior, enabling the system to always exhibit excellent sealing performance. A buffer ring (B) has a greater cross-section than a rod packing (R). The greater cross-section provides the ring with increased rigidity and a greater interference to stabilize behavior of the ring caused by pressure variation, restricting the slide surface of the ring from separating from a rod (5). The buffer ring is composed of a U-packing (2) where the edge of a lip head (9) of an inner circumferential lip section (6) is rounded to reduce a maximum contact pressure gradient and of a backup ring (4) in contact with an inner circumferential heel section (3) of the U-packing (2) to protect the heel section (3).</p> |
