PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wedge and a wedge unit used for a Doppler ultrasound flowmeter capable of reducing the sound noise. SOLUTION: The wedge used in the Doppler ultrasound flowmeter is fixed on a part of outer surface on its one face, and on its another face the ultrasound oscillator which generates the ultrasound by an electric signal and receives the reflected waves corresponding to the ultrasound is mounted. Wherein, the diameter D of the ultrasound oscillator is determined depending on the inclination angle of the other surface such that the length of an projection L' made by the ultrasound from the ultrasound oscillator on the outer wall of the piping, doesn't exceeds the difference L which is the difference of the incident position P<SB>1</SB>of the ultrasound on the outer wall of the piping and the firstly arriving point P<SB>3</SB>after reflected on the inner wall of the piping.
