PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection method for steel pipes in a pile and a column for facilitating work without welding at work site. SOLUTION: In this connection method for steel pipes 1, 2 for connecting the beginning and the end with the same shaft, a steel pipe 3 for joining having smaller or larger diameter than diameter of the steel pipe is inscribed or circumscribed with a connection part in the steel pipe on one side among the steel pipes, a part of it protrudes from an end face of the steel pipe and is joined, a slit 3a for distortion relief is provided in a protruding end part of the steel pipe for joining or an end part of the steel pipe on the other side in advance, a female screw part 3b is formed in a part partitioned by an internal wall of the steel pipe for joining or an internal wall of the end part of the steel pipe on the other side in advance, and the steel pipe on the other side and the steel pipe for joining are mounted in the female screw part by a bolt 4 inserted from an outer side and are tightened by the bolt to connect the steel pipes 1, 2 mutually.
