PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive planetary gear device capable of extending the life of a pinion shaft by the action of needle rollers. SOLUTION: In this planetary gear device 10 rotatably supporting a pinion gear having the needle rollers disposed on the inner periphery thereof on the pinion shaft 15 fixed to a carrier 14, a residual austenite amount on the raceway surface 15a of the pinion shaft 15 is 15 to 40 vol.%. A steel having an Si content of 0.5 wt.% or more is used as the raw material of the needle rollers 15.
