<p>The control characteristic (17) describes the relationship between a pulse width modulated control signal and a valve setting (Q). The method involves determining the minimum pulse width (PWmin) necessary for opening the valve by increasing the pulse width (PW) in steps until a deviation of the current behavior of the engine is detected relative to its static behavior. The stepwise increase in the pulse width starts at a given value of the pulse width that is greater than null and smaller than a value corresponding to a previously determined minimum pulse width.</p> |
