In the leading end portion of a cylindrical sheath (25), there is arranged an electrostatic capacity type ultrasonic vibrator (33) of the type, which has a two-dimensional array on the outer surface of a cylindrical face. An electrostatic capacity type ultrasonic vibrator unit (38) is made to have a split unit, in which electrostatic capacity type ultrasonic vibrator elements (37) of an m-number are arrayed in the longitudinal direction of the cylindrical face. Thus, each electrostatic capacity type ultrasonic vibrator unit (38) is constituted to be easily arranged in the circumferential direction, too, thereby to perform a radial scanning or the like in a body cavity.
