PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an inkjet recording apparatus free from an extension in time for printing to finish on receipt of a print command, associated with a recovery process for a recording head. SOLUTION: A head recovery drive-controller 66 of the inkjet recording apparatus 1 performs a head recovery process when an elapsed time Tc1 after a last head recovery process exceeds a first time T1 based on the result counted by a maintenance timer 69. When it is determined that the elapsed time Tc1 reaches a second time T2 which is shorter than the first time T1, or longer, and if a non-print time Tnp lasts until a third timeαor longer, the controller drives an ink suction mechanism 55 to perform the head recovery process of sucking a predetermined amount of ink from the nozzles of a recording head 3.
