PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure request torque; and to restrain a change in an inside EGR quantity, while performing negative pressure control for securing intake pipe negative pressure, in a system for performing intake air quantity control by variable intake valve control. SOLUTION: Target intake pipe pressure MPM is calculated in response to an item of a negative pressure request, and throttle opening is controlled so as to realize this target intake pipe pressure MPM, and required intake pipe negative pressure is secured. A target intake air quantity MGA is calculated on the basis of accelerator opening, and the intake valve closing timing is controlled so as to realize this target intake air quantity MGA, and the request torque is secured. A target inside EGR correction quantity MEGR is calculated on the basis of the target intake air quantity MGA and the target intake pipe pressure MPM, and the intake valve opening timing is controlled so as to realize this target inside EGR correction quantity MEGR, and an inside EGR quantity is decreasingly corrected by an increase quantity of the inside EGR quantity when switched to the negative pressure control from ordinary control, to restrain a change in the inside EGR quantity.
