PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic contactor formed so as to reduce the separation and jumping of a movable core by reducing the collision energy of a movable core and a fixed core by bringing the position of the movable core close to that of the fixed core. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic contactor comprises the fixed core 12 on which, a coil 31 is wound, the movable core 22 capable of moving in contact-opening direction, a movable insulation stand jointed to the movable core 22 and supporting a movable contact 24, a restoration spring 25 arranged so as to separate the movable core 22 from the fixed core 12, and a fixed insulation stand 11 housing respective parts and supporting a fixed contact 14. The distance between the movable core 22 jointed to the movable insulation stand 21 and the fixed core 12 is made changeable by making the insulation stand 21 movable toward the fixed core 12 by mounting a distance adjusting member 41 between the movable insulation stand 21 and the fixed insulation stand 11.
