PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load carrier causing no problem due to downward deflecting of a load carrier strut. SOLUTION: The load carrier includes a foot part 2 extending in such a way as crossing a vehicle roof thereon and having a supporting part 3 and the load carrier strut 1 furnished at each end region with a clamp part 4 for fixing the load carrier to the vehicle, wherein the foot part is made displaceable within the displaceable range from at least one end region of the load carrier strut, while the clamp part can be changed over between the release position and the clamp position to fix the load carrier onto the vehicle roof by a rotary shaft 5 installed inside the load carrier strut, and in the clamp part release position, the foot part is made movable freely within the displacement range. The foot part is furnished with fixing means 6, 15, 21, 22 for fixation of the foot part in any position within the displacement range, and the fixing means extend to inside the load carrier strut for actuation to be made through the rotary shaft.
