[PROBLEMS] To provide a controller capable of easily and rapidly retrieving information by a series of operations even if the information is large in quantity and stratified in multiple stories. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] This controller (1) is formed so that a rotary operation type rotating knob (2) having a self-return mechanism is installed on a base rotatably in a specified range. An unshown rotary encoder is connected to the rotating knob (2). A pair of terminal switches (5a) and (5b) outputting signals different from those outputted at rotating function positions (4a) and (4b) are fitted to the right and left end parts of the rotating terminal parts, i.e., the rotating function positions (4a) and (4b) of the rotating knob (2). The terminal switches (5a) and (5b) are of the contact reaction type, and formed so that the signals can be outputted by bringing them into contact with each other by the contact parts (2c) and (2d) fitted to a pair of projected parts (2a) and (2b) installed on the diameter of the rotating knob (2).
