PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a furnace having a new construction to continuously produce a carbon fiber having high quality at a low cost. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber production furnace is composed of a set of a reaction furnace and auxiliary devices necessary for operation. This invention aims at a production method using the furnace and a fiber produced by the method. The furnace of this invention forms a single block to commonly heat a set of vertical reaction tubes and has a structure to decrease the heat loss while keeping the module-forming ability and the expandability of the furnace. Each reaction tube is separately supplied with a raw material and the cleaning of the tube can be carried out without interrupting the production in the remaining tubes. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
