PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lapping method and a lapping device by which a working face of a workpiece can be formed into a crowning shape in a short period of time when working it using a lapping film, the service lifetime of a shoe and that of the lapping film can be improved, and equipment expenses can be reduced. SOLUTION: The lapping device 1 has a long belt-like lapping film 11, which covers the working face of an arcuate workpiece W incompletely round in cross section and in which abrasive grains are provided all over the thin-walled base material, a rotational driving means 40 for rotationally driving the workpiece W, an oscillation means 50 for axially oscillating the workpiece W, and a shoe means 70 which is provided to the back face side of the lapping film 11 and presses the abrasive grain face of the lapping film 11 to the working face of the workpiece W. The shoe provided to the back face side of the lapping film 11 is composed of a plurality of roller-shaped shoes 71 and rotatably held to a shoe holder 80 in the shoe means 70.
