PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens device of which the focal length can be variably controlled in spite of a simple structure. SOLUTION: This variable focal lens device 1 is provided with a disk member 2 with a round hole 23 formed therein, an upper case 3 attached to one side 21 of the disk member 2, a lower case 4 attached to the other side 22 of the disk member 2, an upper heater 5 located in a hollow 7 formed by the disk member 2 and the upper case 3, a lower heater 6 located in a hollow 8 formed by the disk member 2 and the lower case 4, and a transparent elastic member 9 located in the hollow 8 so as to close the round hole 23 and to be held between the bottom of the lower case 4 and the disk member 2.
