The present invention describes a wind turbine stabilization apparatus and a method of operation thereof. The apparatus comprises a sensor unit with at least a first sensor 16 for measuring a ground water level. The signal of the sensor or the sensor unit respectively is transmitted to a control unit 4 of the wind turbine. In the case of a ground water level critical to the statics of the wind turbine, a switch-off signal is generated.
