<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing temperature of a unit etc., in a device body from rising owing to heat that a recording medium ejected onto a tray formed on the exterior top surface of the device body has, even when the device is a small-sized and low-cost machine. <P>SOLUTION: Recording paper P2 is placed on a placing surface 86 in large-size mode. In the large-size mode, a communication cover 84a covers a nearly upper half part of an air discharge port 72, and the port 72 is made to communicate with a ventilation passage 84 by a communication passage 84. In this large-size mode, air 72a discharged from the upper half of the port 72 is guided to the ventilation passage 76 through the communication passage 84 to forcibly discharge hot air in the ventilation passage 76. The temperature of air in the ventilation passage 76 can be prevented from rising owing to the heat of recording paper P2 loaded on the load tray 47 and the temperature of a process cartridge 50 and other components etc., can be prevented from rising owing to the heat of the recording paper P2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
