PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable frequency millimeter wave light source having a stable frequency and a wide variable region. SOLUTION: The variable frequency millimeter wave light source 101 is a light source for generating an optical millimeter wave signal. The variable frequency millimeter wave light source 101 includes an optical comb generator 11 for generating a plurality of longitudinal modes (optical signal) with a constant frequency interval, an optical coupler 12 and two variable optical filters 13, 14 for taking out these two of the plurality of the modes, the single side band modulator 15 of an optical modulator which can convert the frequency of the light and which changes theΔf of the frequency of one of the two modes, and an optical coupler 16 for combining the one mode in which the frequency is changed with the other mode.
