PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding mechanism which stably fixes a light guide. SOLUTION: The length in the width direction of a glass plate 23d among four glass plates 23a to 23d is made greater than the opposing glass plate 23b and one end of the glass plate 23d is projected toward the outside of a quadratic prism. The projected section is made a fixing section 23e and it is screwed onto a setting table 24. When a light guide 18 is arranged inside a projector 10, the light guide 18 is mounted on the top surface of the setting table 24 in a state the glass plate 23d to which a through-hole 23f is formed is made a bottom surface. At this time, the screw hole 24a of the setting table 24 are matched with the through-hole 23f of the glass plate 23d (the fixing section 23e) to position the light guide 18. Then, a screw 25 is inserted into the through-holes 23f, the screw 25 is screwed into the screw hole 24a and the light guide 18 is fixed to a projector main body in a mechanically stable manner.
