Disclosed is a composite foil having high tensile strength after a heat treatment at a high temperature which can be suitably used as a thin collector for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries. Specifically, a metal foil with carrier foil comprising a metal foil, a joint interface layer and a carrier foil for producing a collector of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is disclosed wherein the metal foil and the carrier foil are arranged in layers with the joint interface layer interposed therebetween. Such a metal foil with carrier foil is characterized in that the metal foil is composed of a hard nickel layer or a nickel alloy layer and the total thickness is not more than 10 mum.
