The anchorage is obtained when a cylindrical section (2.2) of a fastener (1) closes a rim hole in a metal sheet of a workpiece. The section is concentric to an axis of an opening provided at an end of the hole. A permanently deformed material section of the fastener contacts a free edge of the rim hole such that the fastener is fixed in the opening and is supported axially at the workpiece surface that is deviated away from the edge. An independent claim is also included for a fastener that is anchored to a workpiece.
