There is provided a recording/reproducing device capable of reducing the time required for dubbing when a user performs dubbing of program data. The recording/reproducing device records and reproduces information. The recording/reproducing device includes: a tuner control unit (4) for acquiring first information; a recording/reproduction control unit (13) for recording the first information acquired by the tuner control unit (4) on an HDD (15) and recording second information containing the same content as the first information on an optical disc held by an optical disc drive (14); a CPU (5) for invalidating the second information; and a user input control unit (9) for receiving an instruction to request for recording the first information recorded on the HDD (15) onto the optical disc. When the user input control unit (9) receives the instruction, the CPU (5) validates the second information which has been invalidated.
