PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for separating chips, which prevent breaking or chipping of chips which is caused when the chip on a unseparated side runs on a mother block. SOLUTION: A run-on preventing means which prevents a chip 4a on a unseparated side 7 from running on a mother block 4 is provided from the pressurizing point 3a of a pressuring roller 3 to the unseparated side 7 of the mother block 4. The run-on preventing means is configured by stretching an elastic material sheet 6 at a specified tension, with a clearance (t) which is less than the thickness of mother block being provided, on the mother block 4 on the unseparated side 7.
