PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a UV or visible exciting luminescent material which has different luminescence from that of rare earth materials and contains a compound containing lead and/or copper. SOLUTION: This compound absorbs a part of light emitted by a light emitting device and emits a light having a different wavelength from the absorbed light. This compound comprises one of or a mixture of aluminate compounds, silicate ones, antimonate ones, germanate ones and/or germanate-silicate ones and phosphate ones. By this way, a high-efficiency luminescent material is obtained which contains lead and/or copper, can shift its luminescence peak to a long wavelength range or a short wavelength range, and can substitute for alkaline earth ions. This luminescent material has a large range of color temperature, an excellent color rendering property, and good resintances against water, moisture and polar solvents. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
