<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive method of a plasma display panel for improving contrast by low consumption power while suppressing pseudo-contour. <P>SOLUTION: The drive method emits only a light emitting cell in each sub-field while setting a discharge cell in response to display pixel data to the light emitting cell or a non-light emitting cell in any one sub-field, after initializing the discharge cell only in the sub-field of a head in each of a plurality of the sub-field in a display period of one field at once.
