PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid storage battery, of which deterioration of a cathode and a charge receiving property of an anode at charging/discharging cycles are improved, having a good life property, suitable for an idle stop vehicle or a regenerative brake system mounting vehicle. SOLUTION: The lead-acid storage battery comprises a cathode and an anode composed of a cathode lattice and an anode lattice not including Sb respectively, and a mat separator inserted between the cathode and the anode in a compressed state. Whole surfaces of the cathode and the anode are immersed in electrolyte liquid, and 1.0 to 15 ppm of Sb and 1 to 6 wt% of barium sulfate are contained in an anode activator.
