PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem that though a technique is provided by which occurrence of "hollows" due to faulty transfer is prevented by applying a lubricant to a surface of an image forming member such as a photoreceptor, the surface of the image forming member and a surface of an intermediate transfer member undergo changes in properties by long-term operation, whereby "hollows" occur. SOLUTION: A lubricant applying means to apply a lubricant to an image forming member is disposed and a lubricant removing means to remove a lubricant from an intermediate transfer member is also disposed.
