PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oxydiphthalic anhydride in high reaction efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for producing the oxydiphthalic anhydride comprises carrying out a reaction between a substituted phthalic anhydride of formula(1)( wherein, Y is a halogen atom or nitro ) and a substituted phthalic acid salt of formula(2)( wherein, Y is a halogen atom or nitro; and M is H, an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal atom ) and/or a carbonate. In this process, it is maintained so that an oxydiphthalic anhydride be present at≥1 mol% based on the substituted phthalic anhydride in the reaction system. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
