PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and economical method of purification capable of being used widely for metalocene compounds and sufficiently performing the separation of meso and racemic forms in obtaining a racemic form of the metalocene compound which is useful as a stereospecific polymerization catalyst, by the separation/purification of meso and racemic forms, in the metalocene catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for separating the mixture of meso and racemic forms of metalocene compound expressed by formula (Ia) is provided by performing the operations of processes (1) and (2) to separate the racemic form. Process (1): Converting the dichloro form, etc., of the metalocene compound expressed by formula Ia (wherein, X is Cl or a hydrocarbon or amino) to a dibromo-form or di-iodo form. Process (2): Isolating the racemic form from the mixture of the racemic and meso forms of the dibromo or di-iodo form by a recrystallization or a solid-liquid separation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
