AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY SYSTEM AND METHOD

An air filter assembly system (10) including abutting, cylindrical housing (14), comprised of two halves (26a, 26b), with toothed outer ends (70), joined via spaced, T-shaped appendages (50); a cylindrical air inlet (40) of abutting semi-cylindrical housing inlet portions (34a, 34b); a primary filter pack assembly (18), for slip-fit insertion into either housing half (26a, 26b), having an end cap (58) integral with a cylindrical primary filter pack (162) having sealing material (168) on its inner end (166); a filter outlet end (16) with a toothed peripheral portion (80), for slip-fit insertion into and angular adjustment relative to either housing end (26a, 26b), and a plurality of ribs (74, 82, 90, 104, 108) defining locating surfaces for an air outlet portion (108) and primary (162) and safety (20) filters; the latter (20) having a truncated cone body (282) and an inverted conical portion (288); and a filter attachment base assembly (12) having curved bed portions (208, 230), for receiving a portion of the housing (14) periphery, including spaced support pads (214) and slot portions (232) for angularly adjustably receiving like numbers of T-shaped appendages (50), with a locking mechanism joining (240) the housing (14) and attachment base assembly (12).
