PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that discriminating accuracy on the kind of recording material gets worse because the ejection temperature of the recording material differs according to a printing pattern even in the case of the same recording material in an image forming apparatus where the ejection temperature of the recording material is measured and the kind of the recording material is discriminated from the result of measurement. SOLUTION: Threshold temperature for discriminating the kind of the recording material is set in accordance with a printing rate obtained from image information in the midst of consecutive printing.
