PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scan conversion circuit which is capable of suppressing the occurrence of jaggy even in the case that a line inclined at a small angle is moved. SOLUTION: A directivity detection part is provided which detects a direction of the highest correlativity out of (2n+1) directions including a vertical direction and oblique directions with an interpolation point of an interpolated scan line as the center, on the basis of input image signals of (2n+1) pixels of each of upper and lower scan lines, and the directivity detection part obtains absolute values of differences in brightness between pixels existing in positions symmetrical with respect to the interpolation point, out of (2n+1) pixels of each of upper and lower scan lines and uses the absolute values to obtain a directivity DR showing which of a vertical direction, a right upward direction, and a right downward direction the direction of the highest correlativity corresponds to, and a continuity WD showing that a direction of a line inclined at a smaller angle is the direction of the highest correlativity according as the number of directivities DR showing a right upward or downward direction, which are continuous in the same direction, out of directivities DR detected per interpolated pixel is increased, and the direction of the highest correlativity is determined by them.
