PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable suspension device for an elevator, in which bending of a cable or interference with a bottom part of a pit is prevented even when a car has almost reached the lowest floor, so that risk of damaging the cable is eliminated. SOLUTION: The cable 6, fixed to a wall part of a shaft 4 at one end part, and fixed to the car 2 at the other end part, is supported in this device. It is provided with a shaft 7 provided on a bottom part of the car to be provided in the roughly perpendicular direction to an extended surface of the cable to the bottom part of the car, a support member 8 pivotally attached to the shaft, and rotatably provided in the cable extended surface on the other end part side, a cable grasping member 10 movably held along the support member to grasp the cable around the other end part, a spring member 11 provided between the cable grasping member and the support member to energize the cable grasping member in such a direction as to pull it toward the other end part of the cable, and a cable protective member 13 provided to protrude from an angular part on one end part side of the cable at the bottom part of the car.
