PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compactly deform a container into which a glass sheet for liquid crystal display is not yet housed. SOLUTION: This container for the glass sheet for liquid crystal display comprises a packing box main body 1 having a top opening and a lid body 2 freely detachably covering the top opening of the box main body 1, and cushioning members 9 and 15 having grooves 9a and 15a for supporting the four sides of the glass sheet W for liquid crystal display are provided on the inner faces of short side plates 4, a bottom plate 3 and the lid body 2 of the body 1. In the container, the side ends of the short side plates 4 and the long side plates 5 of the body 1 adjacent to each other and constituting the corners of the body 1 are removably engaged/connected with a pillar 6 erected on the corners 3a of the bottom plate 3. In the state wherein the pillar 6 is disengaged from the short side plate 4 and the long side plate 5, the short side plates 4 can be multiply folded on the bottom plate 3 and unfolded. The long side plates 5 can be multiply folded on the multiply folded short side plates 4 and unfolded. The pillars 6 can be accommodated in a space Y formed between the folded long side plates 5, and the lid body 2 is placed and fixed by a fixing means K on the folded long side plates 5.
