<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain image reproducibility by measuring the aspect ratios of lines and performing correction in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus having latent image forming means 20 to form latent images on image bearing members 11; developing means 13 to develop the latent images with toners borne by developer bearing members; transfer means 50 to transfer formed clear images onto a transfer material S through an intermediate transfer member 30; and a fixing means 60 to fix the transferred images on the transfer material, cross patterns formed with lines of a dot width of the same number with respect to main scanning and sub-scanning directions on the image bearing members 11 are imaged with imaging devices 70Y, 70M, 70C, 70Bk, the density difference between each of the image bearing members and the corresponding pattern is detected with a photosensor, the widths of main scanning and sub-scanning lines are sensed from reflected light intensities, a means to control the linear velocity ratio between each of the image bearing members and the opposite developer bearing member according to the ratio between the line widths is provided, and the aspect ratios of the lines are controlled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
