<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red light-emitting diode that can efficiently absorb UV rays in the area of 370 nm at the excitation wavelength of the light-emitting diode and efficiently emits red light and can practically be used in the light-emitting diode in order to pick up the light ranging from white to an arbitrary intermediate color from one emitting diode, and provide a method for producing the same and a semiconductor diode using the phosphor. <P>SOLUTION: This semiconductor diode includes a red light-emitting phosphor comprising europium-samarium-activated lanthanum acidic sulfide phosphor represented by general formula (La<SB>1-x-y</SB>Eu<SB>x</SB>Sm<SB>y</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>S (wherein 0.01≤x≤0.15, 0.0001≤y≤0.03) and emits white light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
