PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve versatility and extensibility of camera accessories in a camera system having a camera and a plurality of accessories attachable to the camera. SOLUTION: In the camera system having a camera main body, an extension unit attachable to the camera main body, and an additional function adapter group attached to the extensible unit, the camera main body has a control part for controlling operations of respective parts of the camera and a camera-side communication contact connected to the control part, and the extension unit has an adapter insertion part enabling one additional function adapter in the additional function adapter group to be inserted thereto and a connection line for electrically connecting the additional function adapter inserted to the adapter insertion part and the camera-side communication contact, and the additional adapter function group comprises a plurality of kinds of additional function adapters each of which has a function module which is interlocked with the control part by bidirectional communication through the connection line to extend functions of the control part, and the additional function adapters of the additional function adapter group are attached to/detached from the adapter insertion part in a freely replaceable manner.
