PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve startability and operation continuity of a thermal acoustic engine by surely and quickly generating thermal acoustic self-excited vibration of working fluid. SOLUTION: The thermal acoustic engine 20 includes a gas column pipe 21 filled with working fluid, a heat accumulator 25 arranged in the gas column pipe 21. Temperature gradient is formed between both end parts of the heat accumulator 25 to generate thermal acoustic self-excited vibration of working fluid. The thermal acoustic engine 20 includes working fluid pipes L4, L5 for forcedly vibrating working fluid in the gas column pipe 21 at a time of start and when thermal acoustic self-excited vibration becomes dissipating, a pump 28, a working fluid storage tank 29 and an opening/closing valve 30.
