CUTTING BLADE HARD-FACING METHOD AND APPARATUS

A hard-faced agricultural and lawn and garden cutting blade (10) and hard-facing method is provided. A hard-facing material (26) is applied to a cutting edge of a cutting blade such that a heat-affected transition zone (32) may be created between the base metal (36) and the hard-facing material. The heat-affected transition zone may create a sufficient bond to help resist delamination and flaking of the hard-facing material from the base metal.
