Provided are a retainer for a rolling bearing and a rolling bearing using the retainer. The retainer can contain an increased amount of oil and can improve use efficiency of lubrication oil. A retainer for a rolling bearing is constructed from a formed body for holding rolling bodies of a rolling bearing, and the formed body is made of a synthetic resin composition. The formed body is made by impregnating lubrication oil into a resin porous body having a communication hole ratio of not less than 30%. To form the communication holes in the resin porous body, a resin combined with a pore forming material is first formed in a formed body, then the pore forming material is dissolved, and after that the pore forming material is extracted using a solvent not dissolving the resin to obtain the formed body. The rolling bearing uses the above retainer. The bearing is particularly suitable for vacuum apparatuses and food machinery.
