SYNCHRONIZATION SCHEME WITH COUPLED FREQUENCY DIVIDERS

<p>The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for providing synchronization of an output signal to a reference signal. The synchronization is accomplished by providing two coupled frequency dividing means or frequency division functions, wherein one frequency division is part of a phase-locked loop arrangement. The reference signal for the phase-locked loop arrangement is provided by a simple crystal oscillator without means for frequency control. The setting of the frequency dividers and the configuration is done in a predetermined sequence which enables the user equipment to synchronize its reference frequency to a received frequency-correction information emitted by the network.</p>
