<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color display element which reduces the undesirable coloring phenomenon that occurs at an edge of a moving body or over the entire part of an image, at the time of switching of the image such as in animation image display, and a method for driving the color display element. <P>SOLUTION: The color display element in which each pixel comprises a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel in which at least any one color filter among red, green, and blue is arranged. In switching the image by applying modulation in a hue change range to the first sub-pixel, the incongruity in the animation image display is reduced by outputting the prescribed amount determined from the applied voltage before and after the switching in the first sub-pixel in superposition on the modulation amount to the second sub-pixel for the prescribed period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
