PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder receiving container which can detect with high reliability that a recovery container is full without erroneously detecting that the recovery container is full until the accumulated volume of powder in a receiving space reaches a certain level, and does not erroneously detect whether full or not, even when an impact is applied on the recovery container resulted from replacement with another unit. SOLUTION: The powder receiving container consists of a recovery container provided with a receiving space where received powder accumulates, a detection window part which is provided at this recovery container and forms a detecting space where the powder accumulated in the receiving space comes in continuously from the receiving space, a removing member which periodically sweeps out the powder coming into the detecting space toward the receiving space, and a detecting means which detects that the powder exist inside this detecting space through the detecting window part.
