PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device where the driving torque of a developing roller is small and which has a large effect to prevent toner from being leaked toward the outside of the rotary shaft of the developing roller. SOLUTION: The developing device includes a photoreceptor 18 on which a latent image is formed, and the developing roller 2 driven to be rotated so as to supply the toner to the photoreceptor. In the device, seal members 6a sliding in contact with the peripheral surfaces of both ends of the developing roller are arranged. The thickness of the seal member is gradually increased toward a downstream side from an upstream side in the rotating direction of the developing roller, thereby obtaining distribution where the pressing force of the seal member on the peripheral surface of the developing roller is gradually increased toward the downstream side from the upstream side in the rotating direction of the developing roller.
